Help make Bath & NE Somerset a better place to age well, supporting the Ageing Well Programme.
The Ageing Well Programme brings together organisations, communities and older people to help make Bath & North East Somerset a place where everyone can age well. The Older People’s Voice (OPV) steering group members help guide the OPV 's direction and ensures local decision-makers hear the community's needs. The group is seeking BANES residents over age 55 who could take an active role in the steering group, with 5-6 meeting/events a year.

We’re looking for volunteers who bring a mix of life experience, community awareness, and good communication skills. It’s important to understand the everyday challenges older people face in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), like transport issues, healthcare access, or digital isolation. You should be able to listen with an open mind to the perspectives of other older residents, representing their collective voice rather than just your own. Confidence in sharing ideas, joining group discussions, and asking constructive questions is key, along with working respectfully alongside fellow steering group members, Age UK staff, and local authority representatives to find solutions. You’ll also need the time to attend regular meetings, read occasional updates, and stay involved in the forum’s activities.
Along with keeping your mind active, you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of helping make your local area a better place for people to grow older.
Be available for 5-6 events/meetings a year and email communications
