Volunteer at Dairy House – Make a Difference Locally We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our small rural homeless hostel in Stratton on the Fosse. You’ll help create a warm, welcoming environment, spend time with residents, and support day-to-day activities alongside our team. Why these skills are required

Key Responsibilities Supporting Residents • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents • Offer a friendly, non-judgemental presence and someone to talk to • Encourage engagement in activities and daily routines • Promote dignity, choice, and independence Practical Support • Assist with preparing meals, drinks, or shared activities • Help maintain communal areas (light tidying and organisation) • Support group activities such as cooking, gardening, or wellbeing sessions Creating a Positive Environment • Contribute to a calm, safe, and welcoming atmosphere • Model respectful communication and healthy boundaries • Support a sense of shared responsibility within the house Driving (Optional) • Some volunteers may be asked to drive residents to appointments or activities • This will be discussed as part of the recruitment process and is not essential for all volunteers Working with the Team • Work alongside and follow the guidance of staff • Report any concerns about residents to staff promptly • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality procedures What We’re Looking For • Friendly, approachable, and reliable • Good listening and communication skills • Non-judgemental and compassionate attitude • Willingness to learn about homelessness and trauma-informed practice • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
