Role Detail

Music Volunteer - Lunchtime / After-School Club Helper

Orchestra of Everything Foundation

Support music clubs at primary school. No music skills needed -- just enthusiasm and a way with kids

Detailed Description

OOEF delivers free music education to 270 children aged 7–11 at two Bath primary schools in deprived communities — massively high impact, with a 39% reduction in suspensions and the attention of the DfE and Bath Spa University. Our lunchtime and after-school clubs give children extra time with instruments in a relaxed, playful setting - especially valuable for those who need more space to find their feet. You'll support the lead practitioner and the children. No musical background needed -- warmth, patience and reliability matter most

What skills are required for this role

Interpersonal, Empathy, Flexibility

Why these skills are required

These clubs include a high proportion of children with SEND and those who find traditional learning difficult -- the children who most need an adult to believe in them. We are not looking for musical knowledge but for someone who can be a calm, encouraging presence and work well alongside our lead practitioners. Reliability matters enormously: children build trust with familiar faces, and a volunteer who comes back week after week has a disproportionate impact.

What is in it for you

You will see children build confidence in a way that rarely happens in formal school settings. Flexible, impactful volunteering that fits around work or other commitments. Training, mentoring and references provided. DBS at no cost.
