Group Membership Coordinator

69th (Lower Weston) Bath Scouts

A communication and membership coordination role to help young people join our Scout group.

Detailed Description

You’ll be responding to email queries from prospective members. You’ll advise them on when places might be available to join. In time, you’ll then work alongside the leadership volunteers to help move young people into Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts, depending on their age.    This is a rewarding role and is ideal for someone who would like to support local scouting but not by working directly with young people. Why not support the growth and development of young people and our leadership team by taking on this vital role. Flexible and can be done remotely.

Why these skills are required

The role involves checking emails once or twice a week, maintaining a simple spreadsheet, and once a quarter (before new terms start) coordinating with the leaders to help young people move from our enquiries list onto the membership. We can help you do it on a tablet, phone or computer. Full training is available. The role requires written and spoken English and access to a digital device such as tablet or laptop.

We are looking for our next team member to ensure that the best quality scouting can be delivered to young people in our sections. The role plays a very important part in the running of our group. In fact, we could not function properly without it! Although the title makes it sound very formal, it is not like that at all. You’ll be responding to email queries from prospective members. You’ll advise them on when places might be available to join. In time, you’ll then work alongside the leadership volunteers to help move young people into Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts, depending on their age. The group cannot function without support roles such as this. You'll join a caring, friendly group of volunteers from diverse backgrounds who regularly meet up socially if you'd like to. There are also opportunities to get involved with fun activities - but no obligation, as this role does not require supervision of young people or weekly meetings. It is an ideal opportunity to build highly transferable skills and strengthen a CV.

Time Commitment

The role is totally flexible and can be done at a time to suit you. It involves checking and replying to emails once/twice per week, and once per quarter to do a few hours to update spreadsheet.
