Spiritual Care Volunteer (Winsley - 5 hours once a week)

Support the spiritual care needs of our patients and families.
We're looking for volunteers to assist the Spiritual Support Lead in providing spiritual support as a diverse, multi-faith and no professed faith provision, supporting patients, families and loved ones to explore their spiritual journey both within the hospice and also across the wider Dorothy House community. Our Spiritual Care Volunteers develop spiritual support relationships with patients and families as well as staff and volunteers.The role involves the offering of liturgical and spiritual events within a multi-faith setting both as one to one and also in a group setting.

An awareness of your own spirituality, path or practice. An ability to develop rapport with patients and families and carers and to engage in effective communication including in relation to death and dying and also in relation to spiritual events and religious journeys. A working knowledge of major religions and faith groups both locally and also within the wider diverse community and demonstrate a willingness to learn from all faith traditions. An ability to speak and lead confidently in public. An understanding of the need to provide a multi-faith provision within a hospice setting. A willingness to support people who have no professed faith or belief but are seeking spiritual support on an equal level as those who profess a faith. An understanding of the need to not evangelise or proselytise your own faith or any other faith. IT skills in order to keep computer records effectively.
