Work with the local Community Manager to share information about POhWER. Support self-advocacy groups and assist paid advocates with non-complex issues.
Join us as a Community Champion to raise awareness of POhWER and support your local community. You'll help people understand our services and how to get involved. Role Purpose: Work with the local Community Manager to share information about POhWER. Support self-advocacy groups and assist paid advocates with non-complex issues. Key Responsibilities: ¬Promote POhWER’s values: Professional, Empowering, Open, Free and ¬Fair, Positive, Local, Engaging. ¬Identify community groups and draft plans to raise awareness. ¬Organize events, manage newsletters, and update local web pages and social media. ¬Run self-advocacy groups and give talks. ¬Listen to clients’ concerns and support their communication with professionals. ``¬Refer complex issues to the manager and offer low-level advocacy support. Requirements: `¬DBS check required. ¬Comply with POhWER policies. ¬Be 18+ and available to volunteer six hours a week. ¬Good communication and listening skills. Desirable Skills: ¬Basic IT skills and experience with office hardware. ¬Understanding of health and social care services. ¬Commitment to personal development. Personal Development: ¬Attend induction and training sessions. ¬Shadow a qualified advocate. ¬Regular meetings with the manager for ongoing support. Special Requirements: ¬Volunteering within reasonable daily travel distance. Use of personal vehicle preferred. ¬Optional attendance at events and meetings. ¬Enhanced DBS check required.
