Memory Group Helper

Age UK Bath and North East Somerset

We support people with dementia through fun, engaging activities like singing classic songs, dancing, arts and crafts, games, and gentle exercise to help maintain memory and mental agility. As a volunteer, you’ll chat with members, encourage participation, help with refreshments, and bring your own ideas to create a warm, welcoming space.

Detailed Description

Our goal is to help individuals with dementia stay connected and engaged through activities that are both meaningful and enjoyable. Through Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, we offer a range of activities like singing along to songs from different eras, dancing, arts and crafts, playing games, and even gentle yoga and exercise sessions—all designed to help maintain memory and mental agility. As a volunteer, you’ll have a chance to chat with group members, encourage them to join in, help with refreshments, and bring any ideas you may have. Skills and Experience sought: · Good communication skills and an excellent sense of humour · Able to work on own initiative and be happy to carry out tasks without being asked · Friendly, patient and kind, and enjoys the company of older people · Ability to work as part of a team · Reliable, punctual, and able to commit on a weekly basis · An interest in assisting with activities for people living with dementia
