'Carer Cafe' Wellbeing Volunteer for the Carers' Centre

Bath & North East Somerset Carers Centre

Give carers every chance to support their wellbeing. Our free activities take place across a variety of days, times and locations. We particularly are interested in volunteers that can commit their time on a weekday. This also allows volunteers like you, lots of opportunities to get involved! Activities can be in-person, online and over the phone, locations can vary from the comfort of your own home to our office in Bath, community venues, local sites and attractions.

Detailed Description

What you will do In a nutshell, you will facilitate the carer cafe so carers to take time for themselves, connect with others and have fun! Common tasks you can expect to take on are outlined below. Offer a warm welcome This may include taking a register, making hot drinks and helping carers settle in. Set up activities Create a comfortable environment and help to take down and clean up. Support activities Be on hand to make introductions and encourage participation. About you You are a friendly and sociable person that enjoys being around people. You will feel comfortable taking the lead role to facilitate the cafe. You will have excellent listening skills and will be able to empathise with others. You thrive working as part of a team and will ensure everyone is included and feels valued. Why join us? There are lots of amazing reasons to volunteer for a charity. Volunteers are vital to our work in helping unpaid carers, we pledge to provide you with ongoing support throughout your time with us as a volunteer, you will be provided with a full induction and by joining us you will be making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers. We will, of course, reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses to support you in your role.

Time Commitment

No minimum time commitment for this role, we are very flexible. We see some volunteers every week, some every couple months and everything in between. We welcome any volunteering! We particularly welcome volunteers who are available during a weekday evening or on a weekend.

Our welcoming centre with its beautiful garden is based in Twerton and we hold many of our activities here. We also organise plenty of activities around B&NES too.
